Since the GOP has taken on the mission of "determined opposition" to everything that the new administration is trying to do to fix the mess that the GOP got this country into, it's pretty clear that they do NOT want to participate in any meaningful bi-partisan way, unless that means Democrats doing what Republicans want them do (which isn't going to happen).
so here's a message to the GOP: elections have consequences.
You have screwed this nation into the ground for 30 years, pushing it to the brink of financial anniliation, yet you STILL oppose ANY meaningful reform of our fractured health care system, or our broken financial system.
If you can't/won't participate in the government, then please shut up and step aside and let the Democrats get us out of the hole you dug us into.
Your pitiful public wailings (lies) about how health reform will drive up premiums are past being believeable, as is, frankly, ANYTHING you say these days.

Chickens coming home to roost
It appears that the pendulum can only swing so far one way before everyone realizes that it has gone WAY TOO FAR.
The health insurance industry has made a major miscalculation in how the nation (and Congress) would react to their ill-advised and untrue "pushback" report of a week or so ago, indicating (erroneously) how premiums would rise if a robust public option were enacted into law. It was a blatant shot across the bow of Congress, and Congress was NOT intimidated.
It seems the health insurance chickens have come home to roost. The House today reported that it will pass out a measure to strip the anti-trust exemption, and it's about damn time. The Senate has also indicated it will pass a similar measure, effectively putting the health insurance industry BACK into the sphere of regulated industries, and DRAMATICALLY changing the way in which they will be able to do business going forward.
All I can say is - IT'S ABOUT TIME, and a STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.
The next step is to pass a robust public option, "Medicare Part E (for everyone)" and restore competition into the monopolistic fiasco that is called "health insurance" in this nation. Also - policy recission must end, as must redlining for pre-existing conditions.

Trying to blame this on the President, despite his last minute trip to Copenhagen?

Claiming Obamacare will "kill Americans", and will bankrupt the country, when the simple fact is, Obamacare will SERIOUSLY REFORM the diabolical system of health insurance that currently KILLS 45 THOUSAND AMERICANS EACH YEAR!
Today Rush Limbaugh CELEBRATES our defeat, framing it as a "blow against Obama".
WRONG, RUSH - the loss today was for America - jobs, infrastructure development for Chicago, and lots of construction work. But YOU don't see that, because YOU are blinded bvy the fact that our President ISN'T JOHN McCAIN!
And it's also clear that you don't give a FLYING FIG about ordinary Americans who suffer, and die, and get foreclosed on, and abused by their banks, because YOU ARE LIVING HIGH ON THE HOG, SLICING HUGE HELPINGS OF FAT off the CLEAR CHANNEL HOG.

GOP - party of false flags and misdirection
To quote the late Ronald Wilson Reagan, "Well, there you go again"
Republicans have once again shown how they believe that special house rules apply only to them, based on their reaction to Rep. Alan Grayson's (D - Orlando, FL) on-target comments on the house floor yesterday.
Rep. Grayson brought it RIGHT to the GOP when he explained the Republican health care program, the way he sees it:
1 - Don't Get Sick
2 - and if you do get sick...
3 - DIE QUICKLY
This has caused a firestorm of faux outrage from the Republicans, who DEMANDED - DEMANDED - an apology for this perceived "slight".
When Rep. Grayson DID return to the House floor, he DID apologize - he apologized to the 45,000 Americans WHO DIE EACH YEAR BECAUSE THEY DO NOT HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE!
Have the Republicans forgotten that this is the You Tube instant replay decade, and EVERYTHING they have said on the House floor has been recorded for posterity:
• the despicable lies of Rep. Ginny Waite-Brown who said "last week, the Democrats released a health care bill which essentially says to America's seniors 'Drop Dead'".
- the deliberate untruths of Rep. Paul Broun (R-GA) who wrote:
"And if these federal bureaucrats decide that your treatment is not "Government Approved," then your doctor will be ordered to deny you treatment... or risk facing stiff penalties!
...
In other words: When mama falls and breaks her hip, she'll just lie in her bed in pain until she dies with pneumonia because her needed surgery is not cost efficient."
Considering that Rep. Broun is a DOCTOR (M.D.) this is a gross dereliction of his Hippocratic oath - "First, do no harm"
UPDATE - let's add this despicable comment from Virginia Foxx, (R-NC)
After all these, not a PEEP of faux outrage from the Democrats, no hyperbolic demands for "show apologies".
The hypocrisy in the Republican response is typical of what we have seen from the GOP since President Obama's election - outrage, deny, demand, be petulant. and mostly, JUST SAY NO.
Nancy Reagan - would you PLEASE make a statement to the GOP that your catch phrase "JUST SAY NO" was NOT meant to apply to VITAL LEGISLATION that our nation desperately needs?

Republicans - Nay-saying their way into oblivion
Dear Republicans -
Yeah YOU! Haven't you yet figured out that your constant nay-saying of everything President Obama is trying to is only alienating you even more from mainstream citizens?
Your party has ZERO CREDIBILITY to speak upon issues of the economy (because YOU ruined it), or on Health Care (because YOU allowed it to grow out of control and become predatory), or on what President Obama should do now ( because YOU handed him the flaming bag of political feces created by the idiot boy king from Crawford Texas).
Your performance in the Senate regarding health care has been magnificently pathetic - you have done EVERYTHING your health care masters wanted - from gutting single-payer to nearly defeating the public option (but we will surprise you, soon). You ONLY represent the interests of the moneyed elite in this nation, to the detriment of the majority of the citizenry. And you think we don't know this!
Republicans believe in government "of the corporations, by the corporations, and for the corporations". It is this untenable situation that President Obama is trying to rectify, and it's clear that you are SCARED, SCARED , SCARED.
Scared because he is talking SENSE, and making progress towards reversing the fatal course you set this nation on when your beloved Ronald Reagan was elected, and Newt's "Contract with America' was enacted. It was actually a "Contract ON America", since you have been bound and determined to de-regulate everything your corporate masters didn't like (like Glass-Steagall), and reverse ALL of the social advances enacted into law from the 60s on (like Medicare).
Thankfully, the nation has seen the light, and elected a far more rational administration. But YOU believe that President Obama will DESTROY THE NATION, don't you? So riddle me this - how can he screw up things any WORSE that what you have done in 30 years?

We have to hand it to you - from Karl Rove on down, you guys have the most devious political minds since Machiavelli, but this time it won't help you - the American people now control their government, and will PREVENT you from being returned to governance! We have seen how Republican policies very nearly caused the complete destruction of our beloved nation, and we're in NO hurry to return the reins of power to your hands, where you will just screw things up AGAIN.
Might we suggest the following - please SHUT UP, and GO AWAY until such time that you have learned how to contribute something other than "Obama is a Communist", "Obama is Hitler" "Obama is the Antichrist" and other such delicious tidbits of right-wing hate speech.
GO AWAY until you can shut up Hannity and Beck and Limbaugh and all of other the right-wing talking loons who DO NOTHING to add to the reasoned discourse of this nation, and whose only purpose is to inflame hostility among low-info conservatives.
SHUT UP AND GO AWAY because we are sincerely scared that your unspoken purpose is to rile up someone, ANYONE, to assassinate the current President, at which time you will sheepishly say "Hey - it wasn't OUR fault" just like you did after the recent assassination of Doctor George Tiller, whose only crime was that he offended your "faith" sensibilities, and helped women who had nowhere else to turn because of YOUR draconian birth control policies.

Lies, Liars, and Propaganda
It's been clear to anyone who has a brain (and doesn't soften it by watching Fox Snooze) that President Obama has been under a constant and concerted attack from "the Party of No".
It's amazing that the GOP, the party that brought us the financial NIGHTMARE we are currently trying to pull ourselves out of, would be fighting so hard AGAINST what SHOULD be good for the country. It's amazing until you look deeper:
- What do Republicans have to lose if the President succeeds?
POWER - They will have been proven to be a powerless, ineffective, and greedy collection of rich folks who are basically looking out for themselves, instead of the nation in general. And, by the way, when they lose POWER, they lose the ability to ENRICH THEMSELVES at the public's expense.
- Why the constant verbal attacks?
They sincerely believe that this is the best way to influence enough voters to question the President's policies, so that the GOP has even HALF a chance of winning ANY seat in Congress (certainly NOT the Presidency). Goodness knows, they SO have great message discipline - even if it means republican talking heads whose untruthful words grate like fingernails on the political chalkboard.
- Are they correct?
Of course not - but that doesn't get in the way of this constant verbal harrassment serving their purposes.
