OK - What's up with this Governator?
Dissatified with the people's reticence to embrace his foolhardy ideas, he has deigned to place a number of onerous "initiatives" on the ballot, forcing the "PEE-PUHL of KAL-E-FORN-YUH" to pay millions to try to pay for this ballot follym and potentiallymore in loss of the freedom to express their dissatisfaction with this Governor's WOEFUL administration of this state's needs...
Elected (?) in a recall election that ranks as one of this state's more ridiculous moments, the Governator has decided that dissention in the ranks is not to be allowed... to wit: Props 75 and 76.
Prop 75 is a direct slap in the face to Teachers, Cops, and Union Members, and aims to gut their political might by forcing an insurmountable administrative hurdle onto the colection of dues for political purposes.
Prop 76 continues this Governor's unfettered rape of school budgets becausse he is otherwise unable to effect the financial solutions that were the backbone of his ludicrous election "campaign".
In the case of Prop 76, Arnold intends to take out his justice on those who cannot "vote back" to voice their displeasure - school kids - Having already taken 2 BILLION out of Schools, Arnold intends to take even MORE, since this is an easy piggybank to rob.
WAKE UP CALIFORNIANS!
Do we need this idiot in office any more? Do we need ANY Republican in office any more?
Haven't we learned our lessons? Apparently not, yet, but Arnold offers us a welcome chance
to send him a message both loud, and clear:
"ARNOLD - GET OUT OF POLITICS, AND GO BACK ON THE SILVER SCREEN"
At least at the cinema, we can suspend disbelief without it costing us our lifestyles,
or businesses, and our kids' educations...
of course, that's just MY opinion...

ARNOLD: "Ah'l be back" - CALIFORNIA: "No, you won't"
OK - here we go again with the "Governator"...
After having ridden the 'train of opportunity" into Sacramento during the last period of blinding insanity to hit California (I refer, of course, to the ill-advised recall election fomented by Right-wing idealogs who HATED that they couldn't win in California legitimately),
Arnold now teases us with his famous line "Ah'l be back" meaning, of course, that he has tasted the "good life" in the Governator's mansion, and can't wait to "represent the people" for another term - "Represent the People" - yeah, right - but WHICH people?
The blundering attempts of this ex-movie star buffoon to implement his view of how "Kal-ee-for-nya" should be run "for the people" are painful to watch, and would be laughable if they weren't so pathetic, and dangerous.
Arnold claims to represent the people, yet he has taken more special interest contributions that GREY DAVIS!!!
ISN'T THIS THE GUY WHO CLAIMED HE DIDN'T NEED "MONEY FROM SPECIAL INTERESTS?"
Guess your interpretation of who "special interests" are changes once inauguration day has come and gone, eh Mr. Governator?
And to promulgate this "will-of-the-people" government style, "we, the people" get saddled with the multi-million dollar expense (which we can ill afford) of mounting a special election JUST to put forth the Governor's failed legislative agenda as "intiatives" which we can approve or not - of course, the multi-million dollar HYPE campaign surrounding the ballot initiatives only serves to CONFUSE the issue, as the SPIN from noth sides is positively overwhelming!
HOW CAN AN ORDINARY CITIZEN ATTEMPT TO FIND THE TRUTH HIDING IN A CACOPHONY OF POLITICAL TV ADS?
It's hard indeed -
In his short time in office, Schwartzenegger has managed to misstep most of the way, and piss off the very folks he has claimed he represents - when challenged by the teachers, whose classroom funds he has ripped off to the tune of Billion$ and refuses to return, his response is to offer a ballot initiative that will punish them, and prevent them from being politically acive (meaning, challenging him in the future!). and just to make sure that organized labor doesn't mount an effective voice against him, which they have been startng to do, certain "impediments" to political contributions are being plotted for those unions.
HOW DARE ANYONE OPPOSE THIS GOVERNOR?
Well, it's called FREE SPEECH< Mr. Governor, and it's our duty as citizens to call 'em the way we see 'em - and we DO'T LIKE THE WAY WE SEE THEM!
Arnold is BAD for "KAL-EE-FOR-NYA". Find someone else, PLEASE!
And God forbid we allow "them" to change the constitution and make him eligible to bamboozle this ENTIRE NATION as "PREZ-EE-DENT" in a future election (this would drive the Republicans into paroxyms of glee)
NO FOREIGN-BORN PRESIDENTS, PLEASE!
AMERICA NEEDS AN AMERICAN PRESIDENT
(except we'd gladly give the one we have now to any third-world nation that will have him)
of course, that's just MY opinion...

NYT Editorial says it all about "W" and Katrina
You can read it here:
But here's the text, as they will likely pull it down shortly:
Editorial
"Mr. Bush in New Orleans"
Published: September 16, 2005
President Bush said three things last night that desperately needed to be said. He forthrightly acknowledged his responsibility for the egregious mishandling of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. He spoke clearly and candidly about race and poverty. And finally, he was clear about what would be needed to bring back the Gulf Coast and said the federal government would have to lead and pay for that effort.
Once again, as he did after 9/11, Mr. Bush has responded to disaster with disconcerting uncertainty, then risen to the occasion later. Once again, he has delivered a speech that will reassure many Americans that he understands the enormity of the event and the demands of leadership to come.
But there are plenty of reasons for concern. After 9/11, Mr. Bush responded not only with a stirring speech at the ruins of the World Trade Center and a principled response to the Taliban in Afghanistan. He also decided to invade Iraq, and he tried to do it on the cheap - with disastrous results, for which the country continues to pay every day.
This time, Mr. Bush must come up with a more coherent and well-organized follow-through.
Clearly chastened by the outcry over his slow response to the disaster and his administration's bumbling performance, Mr. Bush said last night that he was prepared to undertake "one of the largest reconstruction efforts the world has ever seen." If he is sincere about his commitment to New Orleans and the other damaged localities, and to the displaced residents, he may have a fight on his hands in persuading Congress to support such an ambitious and necessary effort. Obviously, any official with even a minimal sense of responsibility would understand that this work will have to begin with a promise to give up on any more of the Republican Party's cherished tax cuts.
The speech, as good as it was, marks only a moment of clarity. Mr. Bush's problem in dealing with Katrina has been, at bottom, the same one that has bedeviled the administration since 9/11. The president came to office with a deep antipathy toward big government that has turned out to be utterly inappropriate for the world he inherited. The result has not been less government, but it has definitely been inept government.
We have already seen what happened to the Federal Emergency Management Agency when it was taken over by an administration that didn't like large federal agencies with sweeping mandates. For Iraq, the White House asserted that open-ended and no-bid contracts doled out to big corporations run by people known to government officials would mean swifter, more efficient operations. What we got was gross inefficiency, which has run up costs while failing in many cases to do the jobs required.
Given this history, it's impossible not to worry about what will happen to the billions of dollars being committed to New Orleans, especially since the Army Corps of Engineers' top man in the reclamation effort was once the corps' top man overseeing contracts in Iraq.
The administration is staffed several levels deep with officials who share their leader's distrust of large, expensive federal undertakings. But it is now faced with an unprecedented task: housing hundreds of thousands of homeless people, making sure their children are educated over the short term and eventually getting them a start on a new life. There is no way to do that without a focused federal effort.
Last night, the president was particularly strong when discussing the nation's shocking lack of preparedness for disaster, and the stark fact - obvious to every television viewer around the globe - that the people left homeless and endangered by Katrina were in the main poor and black.
The entire nation, he said, saw the poverty that "has roots in a history of racial discrimination, which cut off generations from the opportunity of America." Polls show that black Americans are far angrier and more skeptical than whites about the administration's actions since the storm. Mr. Bush's words could begin a much-needed healing process. But that will happen only if they are followed by deeds that are as principled, disciplined and ambitious as Mr. Bush's speech.
to which I add - and what are the chances of that happening, America?
of course, that's just MY opinion...

NEVER ENOUGH MONEY TO DO IT THE FIRST TIME, ALWAYS MONEY TO DO IT OVER
I am wondering why it hasn't dawned on most Americans that we are in the fix we are in in the Gulf Coast because this administration has been busy frittering away our money and other resources on things that have NOTHING to do with preparedness for this Hurricane, DESPITE this EXACT SCENARIO having been on FEMA's TOP 3 list of potential disasters that could befall America.
AND IT WAS "SIMULATED" LAST YEAR - didn't they find the holes in their gameplan then?
Why weren't millions spent before this disaster, to avoid the BILLIONS that we must now spend? Precisely because this administration was busy being ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL, as they have been since the first time they tricked their way into office in 2000.
I feel for the unfortunate souls in the Gulf Coast who have seen their lives and dreams and jobs and economies turned to sh*t before their very eyes... but it's been remarkable to watch the "spin" and "reversal" that has been forthcoming from Washington, trying valiantly to point the finger of blame on others - for a President who says he doesn't want to play the "blame game", White House minions have been doing a very good job of "suggesting" the fault isn't that of the Fed, whenm in point of fact, they MUST take responsibility for the unpreparedness of our nation for the disaster that has befallen the Gulf.
AMERICANS - there is ONLY ONE WAY to make a mid-course change in the disastrous path of this naton's ship of state - you MUST GET INVOLVED, and STOP BEING APATHETIC, and VOTE in RECORD NUMBERS to OUST the Conservatives who have caused this nightmare -
now I'm not syaing that Liberals are angels, but conpared to the malfeasence in office that the administration of Bush 43 has caused, Bill Clinton's "pecadilloes" seem downright trivial by comparison.
Instead of spending DAYS debating picayune little Clinton-isms, and bringing our government to a crawl, the Republicans should have been being BI-PARTISAN and HELPING. But they didn't, likely becasue they CAN'T.
My daddy used to say - "If you're not a part of the solution, you're a part of the problem".
Well, guess where the problem lies today? Who's in the Majority? right you are...
Did you watch the shameful SHAMEFUL floor debate this morning with Rep. Drier (who I am sad to say lives in California) attempting to paint ANY debate or complaints about the so-called "bi-partisan" House Katrina Investigation Committee as being 'Un-Patriotic" and "Partisan" - SHAMEFUL - how do they get away with this?
it's simple to explain - YOU ALL DON'T CARE WHAT'S GOING ON IN WASHINGTON,
or are of the perception that you cannot CHANGE IT - but you CAN!
STAND UP AND BE COUNTED -
DO SOMETHING TO MAKE YOUR LIFE BETTER
DO SOMETHING TO MAKE THIS NATION BETTER
DO SOMETHING TO ASSURE OUR HEIRS THAT THEY WON'T BE LIVING IN A THIRD WORLD NATION - because if you DON'T, they certainly WILL BE.
DON'T BE FOOLED by the very professionally run "CIRCUS" put on by this administration - at every turn, they will bullsh*t you into believing that what is white is black, and what is wrong really isn't - and by the way, it's unpatriotic to disagree, especially in "time of war".
Remember Marie Antoinette? "Let them eat cake"?
This adminstration's approach is to treat us like mushrooms:
"Keep 'em in the dark, and feed 'em sh*t"
Respectfully submitted, Mr. President, "Get a Clue" -
For over 200 years American have fought and died for our right to question our government, and to speak our minds (within the reasonable limits of public safety)
GET BUSY AMERICA -
SPEAK YOUR MIND -
TELL WASHINGTON HOW YOU FEEL
And then VOTE THE TROUBLEMAKERS OUT OF OFFICE -
Start in 2006, when republicans should begin to feel the wrath of the nation they treat with such disdain, and continue in 2008 when we should NOT BE STUPID ENOUGH to put a SECOND CONSERVATIVE into office behind THIS BOZO -
Are you all so young as to not remember the dismal legacy of REAGAN and BUSH 41?
WHAT DOES IT TAKE FOR YOU TO UNDERSTAND
THAT YOU NEED TO MAKE THE CHANGE???
of course, that's just MY opinion...

WILL THE REAL JOHN ROBERTS PLEASE EMERGE FROM HIDING?
Hi again
How can we allow appointment of the HIGHEST JURIST IN THE LAND to someone who we really do not know?
Would you allow your daughter to marry someone who is as much of a mystery as this guy?
well, you probably would, if he had as much money as John Roberts, but we don't appoint our Supremes based on how wealthy they are (do we?) - but instead by how well we believe they will acquit themselves as custodians of the Nations Judicial Power.
Roberts scares me - not because he isn't polished, poised, and professional, but precisely BECAUSE of that - he's TOO POLISHED - TOO POISED - and most of all, just like this administration, TOO SECRETIVE -
Why didn't the White House release the thousands of pages of memos written when Roberts worked for Bush 41? Because they're smart enough to know that they DON'T WANT YOU TO SEE WHAT WENT ON BEHIND THE SCENES while Duby's Daddy was in office -
You can bet there were a LOT of shenanigans going on there, but they will remain safely hidden, since THIS WHITE HOUSE KNOWS WHAT'S GOOD FOR US TO SEE, right?
WRONG - REJECT ROBERTS - let's have a Justice on the Bench who can successfully bridge the left AND the right, and impartially administer to the needs of America, without pursuing a hidden (or unseen and unknown) agenda.
Absent proof to the contrary, we must ALWAYS ASSUME that what we don't know WILL HURT US, eventually... The White House refuses to release Roberts' papers because there is the PROOF in there of his real judicial temperament, NOT this polished and empty performance before the Senate Judiciary Committee - You were right Senator Biden - a "Kabuki Theater" it was indeed!
In this case, with a likely 30 year lifespan on the bench, who knows how many things we have come to take for granted and cherish will be swept away by Duby's (Roberts') "activist" (meaning "actively") conservative court -
after all, power only makes sense if you USE IT WHILE YOU HAVE IT -
Do you really think the G.O.P. will let this opporutinity to "remake America" (in their image) go away without taking fullest advantage - you do?
Wow - you're more asleep that I thought you were -
of course, that's just MY opinion...

ARE WE SICK OF THIS YET?
Seems to me that right-thinking Americans should be just about fed up with the cavalier way in which this misguided administration has been systematically dismantling many of the GOOD things that previous administrations (yes, him) had created or strengthened.
WE the PEOPLE have a chance to hopefully rectify this in the next Presidential Election, but it will take a serious outcry from WE the PEOPLE to prevent wholesale election theft through electronic means - yes, I mean DIEBOLD , the President's buddies who (we opine) threw the election for him in Florida and Ohio.
WE the PEOPLE have to prove that WE are more powerful and motivated than the FORCES OF EVIL who are perpetrating this Machiavellian power grab on America -
IT'S TIME TO TAKE THIS COUONTRY BACK, BUT NOT BY ARMED FORCE -
GET OFF YOUR ASSES AND VOTE FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS YOUR BEST INTERESTS AT HEART - not someone who mouths a carefully-scripted laundry list of things they think you want to hear, but can't rub two words together spontaneously
IT'S TIME TO ELECT someone who GIVES a DAMN about AMERICA (and not "Ahnold", either). It's now pretty clear that Mr Schwartzenegger is nothing more than an empty suit (albeit a well-tailored one) who married well, made the right friends, saved his money and BOUGHT HIS WAY INTO THE GOVERNORSHIP of our fair state, at an inopportune moment of confusion promoted agressively by Rep. Daryl Issa.
How about we do more digging into the many Media "moments" that were deliberately supressed by American Media, so as to avoid election trail embarrassments for our "Governator"?
Look, America - you can't SLEEP THROUGH THIS -
You've GOT to take action to change things -
that's just my voice... what about you?
~da gnome
- Where is it in the best interest of America for FEMA to become a gutted, useless agency whose director had not ever handled a real emergency?
- Why is it permissible for "W" to place idiot cronies in high administration posts, and yet get a complete pass?
- In the corporate world, if there were a CEO whose performance record was as dismal as "W"'s is to date, he would have been sacked long ago - what are we waiting for?
- Isn't it now plain that this President's level of misfeasence in office has risen to the level of "high crimes and misdeameanors" and, as consequence, he should be given Articles of Impeachment?
- Isn't it now clear to you all that when republicans get into office, all they can think of are ways to loot the treasury, fatten up their friends and cronies, and drive this country into record defecits? TAX CUTS FOR THE RICH?
- Did we learn NOTHING from watching REAGAN and BUSH 41?
